Greys & Greens

How many of their stories have you actually heard?

We run ten guided video conversations with them, then keep every story in a private family portal with their photos, voice recordings & sealed messages. It all starts with a 30-minute call with Jack.

What families told us

What stops families recording their stories

We asked families what had stopped them so far. Three answers came up again & again.

We never really thought of it
The stories are always there at Christmas, so it feels like they always will be. The conversations give them a time & a place.
It feels awkward inside the family
Sitting your own mum or dad down for an interview feels strange. We ask the questions, so you get to just listen.
Time & distance
The conversations happen by video, so nobody needs to be in the same room, or the same state.

The three answers chosen most by 149 families in our July 2026 survey.

    Why Greys & Greens exists

    It started with our Pop.

Last year I sat Pop down in front of a camera & started asking him questions. Where he grew up. How he met Nan. The things nobody ever thinks to ask.

I thought I knew him. I’m his grandson. I also run Blues & Greens, where we match teenage boys with young mentors, & hundreds of Australian families trust us with their kids every week. If anyone knew what a good conversation could do, I figured it was me.

But those sessions with Pop caught me completely off guard. Eighty years came pouring out, & most of it I’d never heard. His own grandson.

My brother Jack & I kept coming back to the same thought. It isn’t just grandparents. Every family has someone like Pop: a mum or a dad, an aunty or an uncle, the one everyone goes to for the old stories. Each of them is sitting on a lifetime nobody has asked about yet. One day those stories go quiet, & the family is left wishing they’d pressed record.

So we started Greys & Greens together. It gives anyone with a lifetime of stories a way to leave a legacy in their own words: ten guided conversations, kept on video in their own voice, for the family to come back to for years.

The stories were always there. Someone just had to ask.

    Book your Family Story Call

A free 30-minute phone call with Jack. Two quick steps: tell us who to call, then pick a time. No pressure to go ahead, just a useful next step for your family.

    Step 1 of 2

    Who should Jack call?

    Whose stories are we keeping?

Next: pick a time that suits you from Jack’s calendar.

We’ll only ever use your details to talk to you about Greys & Greens.

    Questions families ask

Is this just a sales call?

It’s a conversation about your family first. We’ll talk about the stories you’d love to keep & explain how it works. If Greys & Greens is a good fit we’ll tell you how to go ahead. If it isn’t, we’ll say so.

Who will I speak to on the call?

Jack Quayle from Greys & Greens, by phone, for 30 minutes.

Who asks the questions in the ten conversations?

A trained Greys & Greens interviewer, the same person for all ten conversations, so there’s time to settle in & get comfortable.

What if Mum or Dad isn’t good with technology?

We send a simple video link that opens with one tap, & family are welcome to sit in for the first conversation. The only job left is answering the questions.

Does Mum or Dad need to be on the call?

No. The call is with you. If you go ahead, we’ll talk through consent & how the conversations work with them before anything is recorded.

What if they say they have nothing worth telling?

Most people feel that way at the start. We open with the easy years, like the house they grew up in & the walk to school, & let the stories come at their pace.

Do they have to share everything?

No. They choose what to share. Questions can be skipped & conversations can pause. What goes in the portal, & who can see it, is agreed with the storyteller.

    Could we record them ourselves?

You could, & family recordings are worth having. Greys & Greens helps with the parts that usually stall: making the time, knowing what to ask, the follow-up questions, the recording & bringing it all together.

    Is a printed book included?

No. Their story is kept the way they tell it: recorded on video in ten guided conversations, in a private family portal with private sealed messages. There’s no printed book or written memoir.

    Is the call free?

Yes. The Family Story Call is free & there’s nothing to pay on it. We’ll go through the package & price once we know what your family wants to keep, so you can decide in your own time.
